My momma

This last week was a good week, overall I have no complaints haha. I also have negative time to be writing this email, so I’m going to make it quick.

Something I love about the Savior, is that no matter what He has going on, He constantly made time for other people. Can you imagine the weight that was on His shoulders. He knew what His fate would be; He knew the gravity of His calling; and yet, day after day, He went about trying to help all the people that would soon reject Him. I’ve always been impressed by this. I’ve also reflected and asked myself if I’m this way.

When I was thinking about what I wanted to write about this week, and with this topic that I’ve just brought up in mind, there’s only one logical answer for what I should write about! That would be one of my angels on earth, my best friend, a supporter in all things, and a person who is a superhero in my eyes. My momma:)

Without detail (because she has no idea that I’m writing this, I promise I was not paid ;)), my mom has had some pretty crazy stuff going on lately! You would never guess that she has all of this stuff going on because she would never bring it up; she would never flaunt her trials; she always looks outwards!

On Monday, when I got to talk to my mom, she had a couple of extra tears in her eyes I could see. Although there, she first asked me how I was doing. She asked how she could help; she apologized for the trials and challenges in my life!

I have never doubted for one second that my mom loves me more than words can say! I know it because she has always shown it to me! Actions speak louder than words, and although she tells me always, she also shows that she’s willing to do anything for me! I am so grateful for my mom and the humility she demonstrates. Although people are big fat idiots and sometimes don’t say nice things, my mom constantly stands her ground as a disciple of Christ. Which means that you’re going to get caught in the blows sometimes. It is NOT easy to be a disciple of Jesus Christ at all times! In fact, it’s the opposite; it is more challenging. When we say we are willing to represent Him, that means we’re going to go through a portion of what He went through. We will get kicked out of places, mocked, spat at, etc. But the one thing I’m positive of, is that He is perfectly aware. And the reward for representing Him surpasses any downside and hurtful action performed by other people!

When Judas comes with the army to betray the Savior, I can only imagine how low the Savior's heart felt. Here was one of His very closest friends He had served beside. And with a kiss, Judas betrayed Jesus. This was His friend, not just a random person! Even with this, Christ doesn’t act out, He stands His ground and remembers who He is representing (His Father in Heaven). As the story continues to unfold, another apostle (Peter) makes an attack and cuts off an ear of one of the guards. Immediately, Christ goes over to the guard, who probably just tied the Savior up, and heals him. Wow! I can’t read that account without feeling incredibly touched! What a major act of humility!

Momma, I am grateful for you. In the scriptures we read that we have been called to be saviors to other people. Obviously we aren’t THE Savior; that was reserved for Jesus Christ only, who fulfilled His mission perfectly. But my mom has been a savior for me in my life. I am grateful for her endless love and the example she is to me! I would do anything for her, and I love her more than I can say! Thank you for constantly bringing me closer to Christ momma, you really are my best friend in the entire world! Everyone, go be more like Mindy this week. As you strive to do that, you’ll notice you’re becoming more like your Savior as well:)

With all my love,
Luke
