Hello hello everybody! I hope your week has been amazing! You can always feel free to reach out to me and let me know what’s going on. I can’t respond unless it’s a Monday, but if you just want to vent, you can know that I’m here for you. Anyways, that’s all for my little tangent... now let’s talk about some highlights of the week!
The MTC has gotten a lot more Senior Missionaries and, can I just say… I love them! I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that or not but they are just the best! They’ll walk around campus and ask Elder Stevens and me if we have time for a quick lesson and it just makes my day every time! One time, a couple came up to me, Elder Stevens, and a couple other people and gave us candy and told us that God loved us! They are the best! So, if you’re thinking about serving a senior mission I hope this is the push you need because they have just been such a light in my life!
This week we had a fantastic devotional on Tuesday! We had Elder Katcher of the Seventy come and give a talk that was amazing! He talked a lot about expecting to see miracles in our lives. I know that our Heavenly Father is a God of miracles and I know he’s the same yesterday, today, and forever. So he can still perform miracles in our lives! It was just a great message, it reminded me of President Nelson’s talk, “The Power of Spiritual Momentum.” I would definitely recommend going and reading that talk if you haven't for a while!
It was my Momma’s Birthday!!! It was my sweet Mindy’s birthday on Thursday so I had the chance to talk with her and that was definitely a highlight of the week! She is just an amazing mom and so that’s what the theme is for this week’s email! Shoutout to you Momma Bear;)
The spiritual thought for this week has to do with the Book of Mormon! I know that this is the word of God. I had only read the Book of Mormon once all the way through before I left on my mission. But I knew it was a true book because I felt peace and happiness whenever I read it. However, since being in the MTC, I have had a completely new desire to really read it. I love what 2 Nephi 32:3 says: “Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” I believe it was Elder Bednar who once said that the scriptures are prerecorded voice messages from God and Jesus Christ (don’t quote me word for word on that, but it was something very similar!). What a cool concept! God has given us the most amazing source for answers to all the questions we have in our lives!
This week, the Book of Mormon has immensely blessed my life! There were multiple times I had a question or needed comfort, and I would open the Book of Mormon and there would be something right on the first page I read that I needed to hear. But I also want to say that there were moments when I opened it and didn’t find an answer immediately; I had to look and even wait. So if you’ve had an experience where you felt like you couldn’t find an answer in the scriptures, DON’T GIVE UP! I would say it’s safe to bet that there's an answer waiting for you somewhere inside the scriptures. We watched a video in class this week about the Book of Mormon and the role it can have in our life. I would strongly encourage you to take 15 or so minutes of your time and watch THIS whenever you can. I have a testimony that my life has been changed because of this gospel and specifically because of the Book of Mormon. If you have any questions about this book… reach out! Let’s chat about it and I can share with you some of my favorite scriptures!
Lastly, I gotta talk about the Woman of the Year (dare I say, Woman of the past 50 years!!!). I am unbelievably grateful to have been raised in the Church; my dad’s also a good guy and all and he’s helped me lots of times… but it wasn’t his birthday so we’re tossing him aside (sorry Joel;)). My mom has always taught me that God has a plan for ME! In all of my difficult moments, she would scratch my back and tell me times in her life that she’s seen God’s hand or she’d just console me through my struggles and help me look more clearly with an eternal perspective. I’m so unbelievably grateful to have been raised by an absolutely amazing Mom! I am so grateful for her love and I’m also very grateful for my Heavenly Mother! I feel completely spoiled to have been so loved by my earthly mother, and I am grateful for the knowledge I have that I can live with my family for all of eternity. That’s why I’m here; so I can go tell others that they too can live with their Momma for the rest of their life, and their entire family at that! I sure love you, Momma;)
Have a great week everybody! Tell your mom right now that you love her, and if you are in a spot right now where that’s difficult, that’s okay. Pop open the Book of Mormon and look for some peace and comfort. I love this gospel! God is good!
